1. Open your router’s configuration page. Depending on your router, this may be done by entering a specific URL in your web browser’s address bar or by using a program that came with your router, such as Linksys Connect or Netgear Genie.
2. Log into your router using the default username and password. If you have changed the username and/or password since setting up the router, use the new credentials instead.
3. Locate the Static IP Address settings. This section may be labeled as “Static DHCP,” “Static IP,” “Static Lease,” or something similar.
4. Enter the IP address you want to use for your device. Make sure the IP address is not already being used by another device on the network.
5. Enter the gateway IP address. This should be the same as your router’s IP address.
6. Enter the subnet mask. This is usually a 255.255.255.0 address.
7. Enter the DNS server address. This is usually the same as your router’s IP address.
8. Save the settings. Depending on your router, this may be done by clicking a Save or Apply button.
9. Assign the static IP address to your device. This is done by entering the static IP address into the device’s network settings.
