1. Place your modem and router in a central location, preferably in the same room as the majority of your devices.
2. Place your modem and router on a flat surface, where it has plenty of air circulation, free from obstructions.
3. Connect all of the necessary cables to your modem and router. This includes an Ethernet cable from your modem to your router, and an Ethernet cable from your router to your computer.
4. Connect the power cable for your modem and router.
5. Turn on your modem and router by pressing the power buttons located on each unit.
6. Wait for your modem and router to boot up and establish a connection.
7. Log in to the web-based console of your modem and router. This can usually be done via an IP address.
8. Configure your router to your specific network preferences.
9. Configure your modem to your specific network preferences.
10. Save your settings and restart your modem and router.
