1. Ensure you have a copy of the IOS image for your router.
2. Connect to the console port of the router and get into ROMMON mode.
3. Enter “confreg“ command to view the current configuration setting.
4. Change the configuration setting by typing in “confreg 0x2142“.
5. Type in “reset“ command to restart the router with the new configuration setting.
6. When prompted, press “Ctrl–C“ to interrupt the boot sequence.
7. Enter “boot flash:<filename>” to load the IOS image.
8. Follow the instructions to load the IOS image.
9. The router should boot with the newly loaded IOS image.
