1. Open the Start Menu, search for Windows Defender Firewall and select the top result.
2. Once in the Windows Defender Firewall window, select “Turn Windows Defender Firewall On or Off” on the left side menu.
3. Check the radio button to turn On Windows Defender Firewall for both public and private networks, then click OK.
4. If prompted by the User Account Control (UAC) window, click Yes.
5. To enable custom settings, click “Advanced Settings” on the left-side menu.
6. In the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security window, select Outbound Rules from the left side menu.
7. Select “New Rule” on the right side to open the New Outbound Rule Wizard.
8. Click Next on the first page of the wizard.
9. Select the radio button option for “Program”, then click Next.
10. In the next window, click “Browse” and navigate to the program you want to allow through the firewall. Once you have selected it, click Open, then Next.
11. In the next window, select “Allow the connection”, then click Next.
12. In the last window, name your rule and click Finish.
13. Repeat steps 7-12 for any additional programs you would like to allow through your firewall.
14. When finished, close the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security window.
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Click the System and Security link.
3. Under the System and Security window, click the Windows Firewall icon.
4. From the Windows Firewall window, click the Turn Windows Firewall on or off link on the left side.
5. Select the Turn on Windows Firewall check box for both the Private and Public network settings.
6. Click the OK button.
7. Optionally, click the Advanced settings link to customize your firewall settings.
8. Click the OK button to save your changes and close the Windows Firewall window.
