1. Identify the network address of the Class C network. The network address of a Class C network is the first three octets of the IP address.
2. Determine the number of subnets needed. This will depend on the size of the network and the number of users.
3. Calculate the subnet mask. To calculate the subnet mask, you need to determine the number of bits used for the subnet address. This can be done by counting the number of subnets needed and then subtracting two (2).
4. Calculate the subnet address. The subnet address is the fourth octet of the IP address and can be calculated by taking the number of bits used for the subnet address and subtracting one (1).
5. Assign the IP addresses. Finally, assign the IP addresses to each subnet. This can be done by using the subnet address and incrementing the fourth octet for each additional subnet.
