1. Enable IPV6 on all devices and services: Work with your IT or network administration department to ensure that all servers, computers, routers, switches, firewalls and other network devices that are part of the system are all enabled for IPv6.
2. Address translation & tunneling: Address translation and tunneling are two methods used to enable communication between IPv4 and IPv6 hosts.
3. Designating routed IPv6 address space: Designate a set of routed IPv6 address space for use on the network.
4. Adding IPv6 to firewalls/security policies: Ensure that firewalls and other network security policies are updated to include IPv6 traffic.
5. Educate staff on IPv6: Educate staff on the features and benefits of IPv6, as well as any changes they will need to make to use IPv6–enabled services.
6. Test the new IPv6 environment: Run tests to check the new IPv6 environment to verify its performance and security.
