The simplest way to test if a switch is working is to use a multimeter. Set the multimeter to measure resistance (ohms) and place a test lead on each of the terminals of the switch. When the switch is open, there should be a high resistance reading, usually greater than 10k ohms. When the switch is closed, the resistance should be close to zero. If the reading does not change or is constantly higher or lower than expected, the switch may not be working properly.
