1. Connect each Ethernet port to the appropriate device or network. This will vary depending on your particular setup, but typically you’ll use one port to connect to a router, modem, or switch and another port to connect to a device like a laptop, game console, printer, etc.
2. Configure the settings for each port. Depending on the hardware you’re using, you may need to assign a static IP address, change the duplex settings, or adjust the values for MTU, etc. Consult your device’s manual for more information.
3. Ensure each port is connected properly. Check the LED lights for both the port and the connected device to make sure they are in the proper state and usually this will be solid green. Check the device’s settings and/or the manufacturer’s website to confirm the connection was successful.
4. Test each port. You can do a ping test to confirm the ports have established a connection, or open a web browser to see if pages load correctly.
