1. Determine which type of crossover cable you need. Crossover cables can either be T568A-T568B, T568A-T568A, or T568B-T568B.
2. Prep the cable by cutting off the outer jacket and pulling out the twisted pairs.
3. Untwist the colored pairs and arrange them according to the wiring scheme you’ve chosen.
4. Trim the excess wire from the pairs, leaving about 1 inch of bare wire exposed.
5. Carefully crimp each of the wires into the RJ-45 connector.
6. Slide the strain relief clamp over the connector and secure it with a screw.
7. Repeat the above steps for the other end of the cable.
8. Test the cable with a cable tester to make sure it is wired correctly.
