    1. Gather the necessary materials. You’ll need the motherboard’s manual, a Phillips head screwdriver, a computer with internet access, and either a floppy disk or CD–ROM drive that can write discs.

    2. Download and install the latest BIOS update. Start by finding the latest version of your board’s BIOS on the motherboard manufacturer’s website. Download the file to your computer, then run and install the software.

    3. Prepare the update file. The BIOS update file will likely be compressed, so you’ll need to extract it before use. Follow the on–screen instructions to extract the file.

    4. Create a bootable disc. Using the disc–burning software installed with the BIOS update, create a bootable disc with the extracted update file.

    5. Boot from the disc. Once the disc has been created, insert it into the optical drive of your computer. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS settings. Change the boot order so that the optical drive is listed first. This will make the computer boot from the optical drive.

    6. Flash the BIOS. Follow the on–screen instructions to flash the BIOS. Be sure to read any warnings that may be presented during the process.

    7. Reboot the system. After the flash is complete, remove the disc and reboot the system. Your BIOS should now be updated to the latest version.
