A Software Defined Network (SDN) is a network architecture that enables network administrators to manage network services and resources through the use of software–defined rules. An SDN separates the network control plane from the underlying physical network hardware, allowing for more granular control of the flow of traffic within the network. With SDNs, network administrators can quickly provision, monitor, and reconfigure network services without having to make changes to physical devices or manually configure individual switch settings.

Sflow and Netflow are both network traffic monitoring protocols that are used to collect metrics from network devices. They allow administrators to monitor the amount of data being sent and received on a network, as well as the type of data being sent and the source and destination of the data. The main difference between Sflow and Netflow is the type of data they collect.

Sflow collects detailed information about individual packets, such as packet size, number of packets per second, packet type, source and destination IP addresses, etc. This data can be used to gain insight into the behavior of applications and services running on the network.

Netflow, on the other hand, gathers summary information about different traffic flows, such as total bytes sent and received, source/destination IP addresses, source/destination port numbers, and protocol type. This data is more useful for troubleshooting issues on the network rather than understanding application behavior.

VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) are a technology used to segment a physical LAN into multiple sub–networks. They are often used in corporate and other large networks because they help enhance the scalability, flexibility, and security of the network. VLANs allow network administrators to separate traffic based on specific requirements, such as broadcast domains and user groups. By segmenting traffic, it can be easier to troubleshoot problems or apply specific security or access policies. Additionally, VLANs help to create additional networks within the same physical network infrastructure, which allows for increased scalability.

In short, malware can do a lot of damage to your computer and your data.
