Sleep on a Mac is a power-saving mode that allows the computer to go into a low-power state while still keeping applications and documents open. When the computer is put into sleep mode, the display is turned off, the hard drive is stopped, and the system consumes very little power. The computer can be quickly resumed from this low-power state by pressing any key or moving the mouse.
