Zero trust security is a security model that eliminates the idea of “trusted insiders” and instead assumes that all users, applications, and systems are potentially malicious. Under a zero trust model, all users, systems, and applications must be authenticated and verified before they can access privileged resources. Zero trust security relies on a mixture of technologies including, but not limited to, identity and access management, device authentication, and segmentation/micro–segmentation architecture to enforce strict identity–based access policies across all parts of an organization‘s network.
