The Terminal Access Controller Access Control System (TACACS) protocol is a network security protocol used to authenticate, authorize, and account for remote users who are attempting to access a network or system. It provides a secure communication channel between a network access server and an authentication server, such as a RADIUS server. TACACS+ is an updated version of the protocol that adds encryption for additional security.
