Cingular Wireless was a cell phone service provider and a former subsidiary of AT&T that operated in the United States. It was founded in 2000 and was acquired by AT&T in 2006. Cingular operated as the country’s largest wireless provider until being replaced by AT&T Mobility in 2007. Cingular Wireless provided service to over 71 million customers at its peak in 2006.
