DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a network protocol used to dynamically assign IP addresses and other network configuration parameters to network devices. DHCP is used on IP networks to enable hosts to obtain a lease on an IP address for a period of time, rather than requiring manual configuration of each device on the network.
