DHCP Snooping is a security feature used to protect against malicious attacks on a local area network (LAN). It is implemented on Ethernet switches and acts like a firewall, monitoring DHCP traffic and validating DHCP messages. It also keeps track of which IP addresses have been assigned to which hosts, creating a binding table that is used to identify unauthorized DHCP servers and to limit the number of IP addresses a malicious user can access.
