EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) is a Cisco proprietary protocol, designed to be an enhanced interior gateway routing protocol that is used to exchange routing information between systems on a local area network (LAN). EIGRP is a distance vector routing protocol that uses the Diffusing Update Algorithm (DUAL) to calculate the best path for packets to take when travelling across the network. EIGRP is known for its fast convergence time and the ability to support multiple network layer protocols.
