Ephemeral ports are temporary communication ports used by computers and other devices to initiate outgoing connections. They are typically used in Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) or User Datagram Protocol (UDP) communications. Each port is numbered, and the number is used to identify the data sent over the port. Typically, ephemeral ports are used for short-lived connections, such as communication between two computers, and then the port is released for use by other devices.
