IP Multicast is a method of sending a single packet from a single source to multiple destinations over an IP network. It is used for streaming media applications such as video and audio, as well as for applications such as online gaming, file transfers, and applications that require broadcasting data to multiple users simultaneously. This is done by sending one packet to a special multicast IP address that is shared by all the receivers.
