LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is an open protocol for accessing directory services, such as an organizational database or user directory. LDAP authentication allows users to authenticate with a directory service in order to access certain resources within the organization. It works by authenticating a user’s identity against an LDAP server, which may be stored on the same computer or on another computer. LDAP authentication can be used to access files, databases, applications, webpages, and more.
