LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is a protocol used to access and manage information in a directory service. It can be used to store and manage user authentication, authorizations, and profiles. LDAP is based on X.500 standards, but is simpler and faster than its predecessor, and provides faster access than databases.
