Network encapsulation is the process of inserting data from a higher layer protocol into a lower layer protocol, for example, inserting the data from an application layer protocol into an Ethernet frame. It is used to define a common protocol for communication between different network layers. Network encapsulation is important for sending data over different networks, as it ensures that the data is formatted correctly for the receiving system.
Network encapsulation is a process used in computer networks to send data from one device to another, by placing the data into a packet. The packet then contains header information which contains source and destination addresses, protocols and port numbers that are used to direct the data to its proper destination. Once the data reaches its destination, the header information is removed and the data is released for use. Network encapsulation can also be used to secure data in transit by adding encryption, authentication, or other security measures to the packet.
