Nmap Scripting Engine (NSE) is a feature of the popular open source utility Nmap that allows users to write and share simple scripts to automate a wide variety of networking tasks. Nmap scripts are written in the Lua programming language and allow users to more easily perform advanced network reconnaissance and penetration testing tasks. By leveraging the flexibility of NSE, users can quickly create custom scripts to scan for specific services, vulnerabilities, and other network characteristics.
