PDU stands for Protocol Data Unit. It is a term used to describe the data unit exchanged between two layers in the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) reference model. A PDU contains both a header, which contains information about the source, destination, type of operation, and protocol, as well as a data section, which contains payload data specific to the network layer in use.
