Port aggregation is a networking technology used to combine (aggregate) multiple physical ports into one logical port. The purpose of port aggregation is to increase the capacity of a network link by adding multiple, parallel links between two network devices. The devices at either end of the aggregated ports will treat the aggregated ports as a single link, allowing for increased speed and redundancy.
