Security protocols are sets of rules that dictate how two or more computers should communicate with each other in a secure manner. They can be used to authenticate the identity of the communicating devices, to ensure the integrity of the data being exchanged, and to encrypt the data in transit. Examples of security protocols include TLS, IPSec, and SSH.
