MBR (Master Boot Record) is an older partition style for your hard drive. It was used back in the day to boot up a computer, but doesn‘t support hard drives larger than 2TB. MBR also doesn‘t allow you to create multiple partitions on your drive.
GPT (GUID Partition Table) is the modern standard for hard drive partitioning. It supports up to 128 primary partitions and allows for more than 2TB of storage. GPT also has improved data reliability due to its backup partition table located at the end of the drive.
