The transport layer is the fourth layer of the seven-layer OSI model. It provides the means to move data between two endpoints. It is responsible for providing end-to-end communication services to applications. It provides services such as segmentation and reassembly, connection management, flow control, and error control. It also provides the ability to multiplex multiple application data streams over a single physical connection.
