VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) are logical network segments within a physical network. They can be used to logically separate hosts into different broadcast domains, allowing for greater control over how and where devices communicate. VLANs are typically a Layer 2 technology, meaning they control data transmission at the Media Access Control (MAC) layer.
