VMware Hypervisor (formerly known as VMware ESXi) is a bare-metal hypervisor that is used to virtualize servers. It is a type 1 hypervisor that is installed directly onto the hardware of the host server, allowing it to run multiple virtual machines (VMs) simultaneously. VMware Hypervisor provides a layer of abstraction between the hardware and the VMs, allowing the VMs to be more easily managed, provisioned, and maintained. VMware Hypervisor is also designed to be highly secure, providing isolation between the various VMs as well as between the VMs and the underlying hardware.
