The Wi-Fi Alliance is a global non-profit organization that promotes Wi-Fi technology and certifies Wi-Fi products for conformity to industry standards. It was formed in 1999 as the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA). The Alliance works to ensure the interoperability of Wi-Fi products, certify products for compliance to the standards, and promote the use of Wi-Fi technology. The Alliance also provides educational materials to promote the understanding of Wi-Fi technology and its uses.
The Wi–Fi Alliance is an international nonprofit organization that works to ensure the interoperability of wireless computer networking devices incorporating the IEEE 802.11 standard. It has more than 700 members from a variety of industries including hardware, software, Internet, and telecommunications. The alliance develops and publications testing procedures for certifying 802.11 products for network interoperability. It is also responsible for the popular Wi–Fi logo certification programs indicating compatibility with any certified device.
