The demarcation is the point toward where one organization interface owns all the facilities related to the communication with other organizations. In the terminology of telephone, it is considered as the interface between customer-premises equipment and the network service equipment.

It is the mark where the public telephone network terminates and the client’s private network of either an organization or business starts. For such a situation the wires are installed to extend the point of meeting with the client’s private network to keep it in the customer premises, and the whole process is called the Demarc extension.
