The first recorded instance of a cyber attack is thought to have occurred in 1988 when a computer virus known as the “Morris Worm“ was released by a graduate student at Cornell University. The Morris Worm spread rapidly and had a significant impact on the internet at the time, leading to a rise in awareness of cybersecurity and security protocols.
