The first version of the internet, known as ARPANET, was deployed in 1969.
The first version of the Internet, ARPANET, was commissioned in 1969 by the United States Department of Defense. However, it wasn’t until the 1990s that the Internet was widely used by the public.
The first widely used iteration of the internet—the ARPANET—came out in 1969. The World Wide Web, which runs on top of the internet, came out in 1990.
