The IPsec protocol provides network layer confidentiality. It uses the Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) protocol, which encapsulates and encrypts data that is transmitted over a secure tunnel.
The most commonly used encryption protocol for providing network layer confidentiality is the Internet Protocol Security (IPSec). IPSec enables users to securely exchange data over an IP network by encrypting the data at the network layer. It also provides authentication, data integrity, and non-repudiation.
