Hard disk drives are more likely to fail during the operation of a PC than other hardware devices, such as processors, graphics cards, or RAM. Hard disk drives have moving parts (the read/write heads and spinning disks) which can be prone to failure over time. Additionally, hard disk drives are susceptible to physical damage, such as vibrations, temperature changes, water damage, and other physical shocks.
