Network switches are used to connect devices within a local area network (LAN) so they can share resources, data, and access the internet. Switches allow multiple computers, printers, and other devices to communicate over a single network connection, without requiring different cables for each device. They also offer advanced features such as data prioritization, port mirroring, and energy–saving mechanisms. Network switches provide a cost–effective way to create an efficient network infrastructure that can handle increasing amounts of traffic.
