Why Does a Layer 3 Device Perform The Anding Process On a Destination Ip Address And Subnet Mask??

A Layer 3 device performs the ANDing process on a destination IP address and subnet mask to calculate the network address. This process is used to determine which network the destination IP address belongs to. The ANDing process is done by applying a logical AND operation to each bit of the IP address and the subnet mask. When the AND operation is performed, all the host bits of the IP address are set to 0, leaving only the network address. This makes it easier for the router to decide which network the destination IP address belongs to.
