Using a pencil as a tool inside a computer can cause permanent damage to the sensitive electrical components, such as the motherboard and other internal components. Pencils are made of graphite which is a conductor, and when used inside a computer, it can cause a short circuit and possibly result in a fire. Additionally, pencils may leave graphite residue, which can block airflow and cause overheating.
