If you do not have a router, you can still connect your PS4 to the internet using an Ethernet cable directly to your modem or gateway. This will require a crossover Ethernet cable, which can be purchased at most electronics stores. To do this, you will need to:
1. Power off your modem and PS4.
2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on your modem or gateway.
3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the back of your PS4.
4. Power on your modem and wait for it to establish a connection to your ISP.
5. Power on your PS4 and press the PS button on your controller.
6. Select Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection.
7. Select Use a LAN Cable and follow the on-screen instructions.
8. Test your connection to make sure it is working properly.
