Connecting Windows 2000 to the Internet requires a few steps.
1. Firstly, make sure that your computer is equipped with either an analog or digital modem for a dial–up connection, or an Ethernet card for a broadband connection.
2. Then, configure your network settings in the Network and Dialup Connections window. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and Dialup Connections and click on the properties of your connection. Enter the information required such as username, password and telephone number (for dial–up connections). For broadband connections, enter IP address, subnet mask and default gateway.
3. Make sure that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is enabled in the Network and Dialup Connection window. You may need to contact your ISP for setting this up.
4. Test your connection by trying to browse the Internet.
5. Finally, make sure that you have the latest updates and virus definitions installed on your computer.
