1. Wear an anti–static wrist strap when working on a computer.
2. Ensure the work area has proper grounding.
3. Use an anti–static mat or surface whenever possible.
4. Avoid touching the internal components of the computer or any peripherals while they are powered on.
5. Keep your hands dry and free of lotions and oils.
6. Discharge static electricity by touching a grounded object such as the computer chassis.
7. Use only anti–static tools when repairing computer hardware.
8. Unplug all power sources before servicing the computer.
9. Store sensitive computer components in ESD bags or containers.
10. Use commonly recommended ESD protection methods such as flooring, clothing and equipment.
