1. Connect your computer to the cable modem via an Ethernet cable.
2. Open a web browser and type in the IP address of your cable modem. This can usually be found on the bottom of the modem, or in the manual that came with it.
3. Log into your modem’s settings page.
4. Find the “signal levels” page, which will display the current signal levels of your modem.
5. Interpret the signal levels. Each modem will have different thresholds for what is considered a good signal level. Generally, a good signal level would be around -10 dBmV for upstream and around +7 dBmV for downstream.
