1. Log into your Cisco device.
2. Enter the following command to configure the MOTD banner: “banner motd #”
3. Replace “#” with the message of your choice.
4. To finish the MOTD banner configuration, type “end” and press enter.
5. To save your configuration changes, type “write memory” and press enter.
1. Log into your Cisco router using Telnet or SSH to access the command prompt.
2. Type the following command to configure the Cisco router’s Message of the Day:
Router(config)#banner motd #
3. Enter in what you want the message to say—replace the hashtag with your banner text.
4. Press ENTER twice to save the banner.
5. Exit configuration mode by typing “exit” or “end” and pressing ENTER.
6. Your Message of the Day Banner should now be displayed when anyone attempts to access the router.
