Link aggregation, also known as port trunking, is the process of combining multiple physical network connections into one logical link in order to increase bandwidth and reliability. Link aggregation is typically used to connect two switches together, allowing them to exchange data more quickly and reliably. Link aggregation can also be used to connect a server to multiple switches, allowing for increased bandwidth and reliability for the server.
