Packet sniffing is a type of network monitoring that captures and analyzes data packets in a network. It is used to capture data from a network in order to analyze and troubleshoot network traffic and detect malicious activities. It can be used to monitor network performance and detect security breaches. Packet sniffing can be done at the data link layer, network layer, or transport layer of the OSI model.
