IPv4 stands for Internet Protocol version 4 and it is the fourth version of the Internet Protocol used to identify devices on a network and route traffic between them. IPv6 stands for Internet Protocol version 6 and it is the most recent version of the Internet Protocol. It is designed to replace IPv4, which is no longer adequate to meet the needs of modern networks. IPv6 has a larger address space, improved security, and better support for mobile devices.
